One Day at Sea (April 2, 2016)

Reading Length: Grab ‘n’ Go Coffee

Kristin Reporting!

Today I mostly wrote emails. I also worked a little bit on the blog stuff.

I'm on some really good Babylon 5 episodes!

I went to the craft class this morning and learned how to draw a face. It's amazing how much good one lesson can do! My improved face is still ugly, but it looks like a real drawing.

I also started going to Singers at Sea. So far we only did one song because it just started today for this "leg" of the voyage. The song is really good though– very moving.

I had a really good workout in the gym. My body already hurt all over from lifting two days ago. I did 10 minutes of the scenic video biking on the Trixter machine, and then had the race of my life– 6.5 minutes and the first 3 minutes were all up hill and I had to keep going because they were gaining on me! And then they passed me and it just kept going up! So I had to press as hard as possible to keep close and then it FINALLY turned downhill so I could pass them and I got first place in the end, but I tell ya, I almost died, but I won! =D

On the way back from the gym, we saw two huge dragonflies dying in the pool. Sadly, one was dead already. The other was still moving. We quickly looked about for a pool cleaning tool or anything to get out far enough to save the dragonfly– nothing! D said, more like whined, "What are we going to do U's!" As usual, it was up to me to save the day... Do you know what happened next? What do you think?

[Davin Interjection: I don’t know that I exactly whined...]

There was no choice: Socks and shoes off and into the pool I went– fully clothed! The dragonfly's wing span was easily the height of my palm (wrist to fingers). When I lifted it out of the water its "tail" curled up like a scorpion ready to sting. That freaked me out and I dropped it back in the water. I said to D, "Dragonflies don't sting or bite, right?" D said, "I don't think so. Just throw it out really fast." "Eeeeee!” I squealed. “That's easy for YOU to say!" I replied.

So, I said a little prayer to the nonexistent Gods, gathered my courage, and let it grab onto my hand, and flung it into the air, and it flew in a circle and crashed into the pool. "Oh, for fuck's sake. You HAVE GOT to be kidding me!" I said. "Throw it further away from the pool next time," D said. Yes, I noticed that he was being quite the know-it-all from outside of the pool. Hmm, typical! ;) So, I picked it up again and threw it out of the pool and it flew up into the night sky and disappeared.

That was my day today! And late tomorrow we will arrive in Singapore!
